Moving Beyond Notebooks: I Started with SASSB. Nobody asked Why.
The honest reason behind my mission to replace paper notebooks with digital financial intelligence.
Quick take
Moving Beyond Notebooks: I Started with SASSB. Nobody asked Why.
So I'll ask it for you.
Why?
Why did I try to build SASSB?
Because I watched firsthand my mom’s business shrink and shrink over time.
It wasn't a sudden collapse. There was no single "bad day".
It was a slow, quiet erosion. Money came in, money went out, and by the end of the month, the capital was always thinner.
She didn’t lack hard work. She didn’t lack customers.
She lacked the one thing that separates a survivor from a victim: Visibility.
As a student of accounting and later a professional accountant, I watched this from the sidelines.
The pain was twofold. I saw the struggle, and I saw the solution that was missing.
But what was I going to do? Bring her an Excel spreadsheet?
Tell her to stop selling and start doing double-entry on a laptop?
The tools I would come to use later in corporate organisations didn’t exist for her.
The market doesn’t have internet. Or laptops. It has rush. It has memory. It has voice.
She had a notebook. That was her system.
But a notebook cannot tell you if you are eating your capital.
A notebook cannot protect you from silent bankruptcy.
I couldn't save my mom’s business.
But her story is the story of millions of shops across Nigeria.
I started SASSB and now FiCore because I don’t want anyone else to bury their business in a notebook.
Every line of code, every feature, is a response to that helplessness.
Voice entries? Because market women don’t have time to type.
Offline capability? Because NEPA doesn’t stop sales.
Safe-to-Spend™? Because knowing what you can spend is the difference between open and closed.
I am not building software for "the market".
I am building a shield for the person too busy surviving to know they are bleeding.
FiCore isn’t just a product. It is a memorial that works.
It is the accounting system I wish I could have handed my mom ten years ago.
If you are tired of the notebook, we built this for you.
